    @wongmjane One of the problems is that the US is much bigger and much less dense than many other countries. This means that investments must be on a much larger scale to reach full utility and that you’d inevitably have thousands of communities miles away from the nearest station.

      @wongmjane Also, most of the rail depicted in the map already exists (albeit in non-high-speed form with freight trains sometimes delaying passenger trains at bottlenecks):
